- Een discussie betreffende de actuele plaats en rol van osteopathische zorg met betrekking tot:
- de regularisatie van de osteopathie;
- de scope of practice van de osteopathie;
- de verwachtingen van haar beoefenaars;
- de verwachtingen van haar patiënten.
- Het voorstellen van mogelijke modellen betreffende de plaats van ons beroep in de gezondheidszorg.
- Wat betekent dit alles voor de individuele osteopaat?
- inzicht in de rol en plaats van onze zorg;
- wat maakt ons tot wie we zijn in de zorg (identiteit);
- communicatie met patiënten;
- communicatie met andere zorgverleners;
- communicatie met beleidsmakers;
- hoe profileer ik mij als osteopaat naar de buitenwereld toe.

Leerdoelen
- Het verwerven van inzicht in terminologie betreffende gezondheidszorg (gate-keeping, referral, eerste of tweede lijn, conventioneel of complementair, primaire zorg)
- Het verwerven van inzicht in de plaats en rol van de osteopathie in onze gezondheidszorg aan de hand van historische en nieuwe wetenschappelijke data.
- Het verwerven van inzicht in een meer coherente professionele identiteit.
- Het verwerven van inzicht betreffende in de scope of practice van de osteopathie (de mogelijkheden en grenzen van het beroep).

Patrick van Dun heeft een privépraktijk als osteopaat in Mechelen (België) en Habichtswald (Duitsland).
Hij is lid van de board of trustees van het Centre for Osteopathic MEdicine Collaboration (COME), Pescara (Italië). Hij is voorzitter en medeoprichter van de Commission for Osteopathic Research, Practice and Promotion vzw (CORPP). Hij behaalde zijn Lic. in Revalidatie en Kinesitherapie aan de Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in 1989 en voltooide zijn studie osteopathie aan het COC, georganiseerd aan de Vrije Universiteit Brussel, in 1993.
Patrick heeft een brede interesse in osteopathisch onderzoek, maar de laatste jaren richt hij zich op de osteopathische professionele identiteit, de praktijkkenmerken van Europese osteopaten (Osteopathic Practitioners, Estimates and Rates, OPERA-project) en de Health Economic Value of Osteopathy (HEVO-project).
Hij houdt van de uitdaging om onderzoek te vertalen naar de klinische praktijk en hij heeft het voorrecht dit proces te kunnen begeleiden door zijn activiteiten in verschillende osteopathische non-profit organisaties.
Patrick van Dun has a private practice as an osteopath in Mechelen (Belgium) and Habichtswald (Germany).
He is a Board of Trustees member of the Centre for Osteopathic MEdicine Collaboration (COME), Pescara (Italy). He is the chair and co-founder of the Commission for Osteopathic Research, Practice and Promotion vzw (CORPP). He got his M.Sc. degree in Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy at the Catholic University Leuven in 1989 and completed his osteopathy studies at COC, organised at the Free University of Brussels, in 1993.
Patrick has a broad interest in osteopathic research but in recent years he has been focussing on osteopathic professional identity, the practice characteristics of European osteopaths (Osteopathic Practitioners, Estimates and Rates, OPERA-project) and the Health Economic Value of Osteopathy (HEVO-project).
He loves the challenge of translating research into clinical practice and he feels fortunate to be able to guide this process through his activities in several osteopathic non-profit organizations.
